Shantilal Muttha Foundation (SMF) is a non-profit organization committed to ensuring every child receives an education that nurtures them into compassionate, responsible citizens.
Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Administrator Shri Praful Patel, the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (DNH & DD) has adopted Mulyavardhan to nurture core human values among students from Grades 1 to 8 across schools in the Union Territory.
An in-depth engagement with the education system enabled SMF to understand how values were being taught, experienced, and internalised by children. This phase laid the conceptual and pedagogical foundation for what later evolved into Mulyavardhan.
The pilot phase of Mulyavardhan was implemented in two tehsils of Maharashtra across government primary schools. The programme’s impact was assessed by experts from the University of Cambridge and the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
Mulyavardhan 2.0 expanded across Maharashtra and Goa through government and aided school systems. Offered in six languages, the programme reached more than 68,000 schools and impacted over 45 lakh students. During this phase, officials from the Union Territory of DNH & DD initiated dialogue for introducing Mulyavardhan in the region.
The current version of Mulyavardhan was aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023. The programme was further refined to align with social, emotional, and ethical development (SEED) competencies and curricular goals related to language, social sciences, and physical and mental well-being.
The Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu adopted Mulyavardhan for students from Grades 1 to 8 across Gujarati, Marathi, and English medium schools in Silvassa, Daman, Diu, and Khanvel tehsils, covering more than 96,000 students.
The initiative began with a four-day workshop in December 2024 to create a cadre of 68 master trainers. With support from Shantilal Muttha Foundation, these trainers subsequently trained teachers for the first phase of implementation in Grades 3 and 5.
