Shantilal Muttha Foundation (SMF) is a non-profit organization committed to ensuring every child receives an education that nurtures them into compassionate, responsible citizens.
Some children have a lot to say but need time and encouragement to express themselves. Vidhi Gaude, a grade 1 student at Government Primary School Talsai in Dharbandora Taluka, Goa, was one such child. While she did well in her studies, speaking and interacting with others in the classroom did not come easily to her. With regular Mulyavardhan activities and her teacher’s support, Vidhi gradually began to open up and participate with greater confidence.

A Quiet Child in the Classroom
Government Primary School Talsai is a Marathi-medium school with classes from grades 1 to 4 and a total of seven students. When Teacher Sandhya Naik observed Vidhi in the classroom, she noticed that Vidhi rarely spoke to her teachers or classmates. She completed her classwork and homework on time and performed well academically yet remained quiet during classroom interactions.
Interestingly, Vidhi was talkative and expressive at home. Her challenge was not learning but feeling comfortable enough to communicate in school.
Recognising this, Sandhya Naik looked for opportunities to help Vidhi interact with her classmates and express herself more freely.
Learning Together, Growing in Confidence
The school began implementing Mulyavardhan activities in November 2025. As a trained Mulyavardhan teacher, Sandhya Naik conducted the activities regularly, creating opportunities for children to learn through interaction and participation.
Pair work and group discussions, which are part of Mulyavardhan’s cooperative learning structures, gave Vidhi a comfortable space to share her thoughts and engage with her peers. These activities allowed her to participate in small steps, without the pressure of speaking before the entire class.

Gradually, Vidhi began interacting more with her classmates. She grew more comfortable sharing her ideas and started participating actively in classroom discussions. Her confidence, communication, and social interaction improved over time.
When Every Child Finds a Voice
Vidhi’s journey shows how small, meaningful opportunities can make a difference in a child’s school experience. She did not need to be pushed to speak; she needed an encouraging environment where she could participate at her own pace.
Through regular Mulyavardhan activities, Sandhya Naik helped create that space for Vidhi. Her experience highlights how activity-based learning and cooperative participation can help children build confidence alongside academic learning.
Sometimes, change begins with a few words shared with a classmate or an idea expressed during an activity. For Vidhi, these small steps helped her find her voice in the classroom.
Because every child deserves not just the opportunity to learn, but also the confidence to speak, share, and be heard.
